Joey Ayala Sings The Philippine National Anthem

Though our nation today suffers from the great destruction and devastation brought about by recent terrorism and calamities, we are hopeful that one day we can get back to our feet especially to our fellow countrymen who have truly suffered from these sorrows. From the Zambaonga City crisis in Mindanao, floods in Luzon to the earthquake and the recent super typhoon Yolanda in Visayas, we as a nation hopes that one day the eight-rays sun at daytime and the triple stars at night will shine and smile for our country.

Let's take a little of our time singing our country's song, the anthem of our beloved land. Making rounds in the facebook and as of writing around 700 thousand views on Youtube, Joey Ayala sings for us a nice way (for me) of singing our national anthem as he sang it at the TEDxDiliman. He is a Filipino singer, songwriter and former chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

"So gusto kong ituro sa inyo 'yong (So I want to teach you) possibly the correct way", says Joey Ayala in the video.

Here's the video:

May this inspires us to be strong and continue living as a nation, helping and loving each other.
God bless Philippines! God bless the Filipino people!

Pacquiao, Rios Camps Get Into Confrontation

The Venetian Macao (Macau) - Few days before the big Pacquaio - Rios bout in Macau, things started to heat up between the two camps and it seems fight has started with the trainers. Pacquaio's trainer, Freddie Roach, got into a heated confrontation against Rios' trainer Robert Garcia and Alex Ariza. It all started when Roach approached Garcia regarding training time schedule asking them to leave.  They shared the same training gym a week before the fight with Rios' schedule 9-11 am and Pacquiao at 11am-4pm.

Roach and Ariza when Ariza was still Pacquiao's strength and conditioning coach

Then things started to heat up between both sides when Roach and Garcia exchanging "not good" words. Ariza, Pacquio's former strength and conditioning coach, who's now transferred at Rios camp after being fired, shouted at Roach to leave. Then Roach shouted back at Ariza to "make me". Then Roach tried to approach Ariza when the latter kicked Roach in the chest. Then another man from Rios' camp got involved when he started shouting at Roach. Then he exchanged heated words with Roach when the security preventing another physical confrontation.

The fight started with Roach telling Garcia to leave because it is their training time already.

Watch the video:

The two boxers weren't involved in the altercation. Rios was on the background continuing his training and work out while Pacquiao was not there.

It all will go down in the ring on November 23 between Pacquiao versus Rios.

Word Of The Year for 2013 - "Selfie"

The Oxford Dictionaries announced that the word "selfie" won through a unanimous decision as the "Word of the Year for 2013". As defined in Oxford's online dictionary, the word "selfie" is an informal noun which means "a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website".

"Selfie" is not a new word as it was first used back in September 13 2002 as the earliest known usage of the word. It was a forum posting in ABC Online (Australia) which stated "Um, drunk at a mates 21st, I tripped ofer [sic] and landed lip first (with front teeth coming a very close second) on a set of steps. I had a hole about 1cm long right through my bottom lip. And sorry about the focus, it was a selfie.".
Its usage has truly risen that it is a usual thing everyone can see in the social media sites like facebook and photo-sharing sites like flickr. Although self-portrait is truly not new but through the incredible and widespread social media usage nowadays and with the help of the current technology through mobile phones and gadgets, it has been so easy and fast for people to take self-portraits and share it through the internet.

It has been added in the Oxford Dictionary Online but not yet in Oxford English Dictionary.

"Selfie" beats some of the words like the famous "twerk", "showrooming", "bitcoin", "olinguito", "bedroom tax", "binge-watch" and "schmeat".

Riddles And Horrors Of The Night

I don't know what brought me remembering those days, or I'd rather say nights, right at a completely unrelated moment. The memory just suddenly popped out of my mind. And I found myself loving the feeling of it, reminiscing those childhood excitements filled with the crave for challenge and adventures of imagination. Then I realized, perhaps the fun we had in the office a few weeks ago about riddles might have sparked a little of the thought. Maybe, but I'm not so sure.

Those were dark nights. A time, which for us, comes with fun and excitement and challenge or fear. Young as we were, our curious and knowledge-hungry minds were eager to hear, learn and imagine a world we haven't seen. Those were the nights when the lights in our sight are but from the lamps and candles. Sometimes when lucky, the bright moonlight in a clear night sky made rightful of the moment. Perhaps for others, it meant missing episodes of their favorite shows and early bedtime. For us, it meant riddles and horrors of the night.

Yes but just that it wasn't the scary kind of thing but we felt challenged and scared. Gathered in a crowd with my siblings and cousins, we huddled around our grandfather. Sometimes our grandma and parents would joined the young audience. It was a family time together, a sort of. Either a challenge of riddles or story telling of horrors, it sounded so interesting. Like any of the TV shows but with our grandpa as the host in a live telecast at our living room. Sometimes, at the porch which made it a little more scary but more fitting.

Our grandfather would take the time to gather us and then if not riddles thrown, we got stories of ghosts encounters being told. We were just innocent kids then. Youngs minds, indeed. I couldn't remember all of his riddles or the stories he told but a few of them I have managed to keep. Perhaps we could do it again on yearends and I do hope. It still sounds interesting, challenging and scary but I love it.

The world we see in our eyes on those times were truly darker. Silent than the usual nights. But our eyes were brighter and minds more focused. Those riddles up to now are challenging, not for us anymore, but for those whom I share it with. And the stories still sounds as scary as not wanting it to happen, again, in either of us.

Those were blackout times but those were good moments, good nights.

Mathematical Fallacy: Prove 0 = 2

Yesterday, my roommate and I were discussing on his friend's post for a proof that 0 = 2.
Really? Well, let's check this out and examine.

0 = 2

Step 1:     0 = (100 - 100) / (100 -100)

Step 2:     0 = (10(*square) - 10(*square))  / ( (10)(10) - (10)(10) )

*means 10 squared - 10 squared

Factoring out numerator through "Difference of 2 Squares" gives us:

Step 3:     0 = ( (10 + 10)(10 - 10)) / ( (10)(10) - (10)(10) )

Step 4:     Using the distributive property into the denomator, it gives us:

                0 = ( (10 + 10)(10 - 10)) / ( 10 * (10 - 10) )

Step 5:     Thus divide out (10 - 10), gives us:

                 0= ( 10 + 10) / ( 10 )

Step 6:     0 = 20 / 10

Answer:   0 = 2

Haha...As we can see, it seems right. Where is the problem?

The problem is in Step 5, it is invalid since "division by zero" is undefined.
0/0 has no value and is this is called an indeterminate form.

If you carefully examine Step 5, it would turn out that 0 is equal to any number, which is very wrong.
Check this out using another representation of Step 5.

Equation. 1:    0 = (2 * 0) / (1 * 0)
Equation. 2:    0 = (3 * 0) / (5 * 0)

Both equation are correct but if using the invalid process in Step 5, it would be the same as:

Equation. 1:    0 = (2 )(0) / (1)(0)

                      Divide out 0 in the denominator

                      0 =  2/1

                      0 =  2

Equation. 2:    0 = (3)(0) / (5)(0)

                      Divide out 0 in the denominator

                      0 =  3/5

Now, we've seen where the problem is. :)

Bohol's famous snake, Prony, dies

Prony, the famous snake in Alburquerque, Bohol, died last Tuesday (August 14) of still an unknown cause. Visitors and tourists often include in their province travel a visit to this famous snake in Bohol. I haven't seen the snake in person so I will have to see her in a preserved state as the owners plan of preserving her and exhibiting her at the snake's den.

                                                       Photo source

Prony was captured in Alburquerque last October 31, 1996. When captured, she was at 5 feet long and 5 kilograms in weight but has grown into 23 feet and around 280 kilograms.

Tourists and visitors who have visited her will surely miss the snake and sadly, future visitors won't see her alive now.

First Cents

Every journey indeed starts with its first steps. Every thing that we wanted in life oftentimes starts from small and humble beginnings and then from there, we never really know. It might and grow into more than what we initially wanted.

And this is where it all begins - there was this guy I know, who's been a  nobody in the world wide web, but a person who believes he can write and who wants to earn big online from writing, blogging and working online. A blogger wannabe who wanted to share to the virtual community his thoughts and skills then earn while doing it.

He had some attempts but he failed yet he never stopped until he had made some achievements. He had finally decided on the kind of blog he wanted, learning from successful blogs, from reading and studying them. He gained some few reads and had his first followers, and then it was really happiness for him.

The next goal he had was to know how to earn from it. He had some failed tries until he had successfully came across with Infolinks and earned his first cents. And I saw it, the reports and how he was so happy that for a long time hoping, he finally had his first cents online. And he knew it doesn't end here. Now his making this post, trying his luck to earn. But then again, he wanted to say thank you to Infolinks for realizing a long time dream of earning online. The setup was easy and fast, yet he knows that he has to do more work to perform better and earn better someday but his taking his first steps and he thinks he has taken the right steps.

However, he been really so happy earning his first cents and his grateful. Good luck! :)

SULITCOMBO30A for TM/Globe subscribers

Yesterday was the last day for SULITCOMBO15A promo period based from the last message I have received from TM. However, TM notified me through a text message about SULITCOMBO30A. I don't know if this is offered to everyone but the message says that it is exclusive for me. If you have received a similar message below, then you are qualified to avail with the promo. For those who haven't received this message, you can try and check if you can avail. The same as with SULITCOMBO15A, my prediction is that another promo notification might be sent once the promo period indicated is over.

Compared with the regular promos of TM I usually used like ASTIGCOMBO15A, SULITCOMBO15A is superior.
As indicated in the name, "SULIT"COMBO15A is indeed "worth it" combination promo of texts and calls.

Here's how to register:

1) Type SULITCOMBO30A
2) Send to 8888

To check balance, text TMREW to 8888.

Enjoy:
500 texts to TM/Globe and 120 minutes (2 hours) of calls to TM/Globe valid for 2 days.
(The promo period should be stated in the text message like Mar26-28 with a maximum of 2 registration within the time frame.)

Below is the content of the message sent by TM:

"Sulit ang P30 mo sa astig na call and text combo na exclusive para sayo! May 500 texts ka na, may 120 minutes pantawag pa, all to TM/Globe and valid for 2days. Kaya register na from Mar 26 - 28, text SULITCOMBO15A to 8888. Max of 2 registrations only. This is a free advisory. P527b-2."

Register SULITCOMBO15A for TM/Globe Subscribers

For more than 2 weeks, I've been using SULITCOMBO15A for my TM number. I think this should also work for Globe subscribers. It started when TM sent me a message for 7 days promo of SULITCOMBO15A. It was extended for almost 3 weeks now.

I'm not sure if this is exclusive for some users only for some reasons, but you could give this a try.

How to register SULITCOMBO15A:

1) Text SULITCOMBO15A
2) Send to 8888

Enjoy 100 minutes of TM/Globe calls and 300 texts to TM/Globe for 1 day.

Share the news! :)
